    Loss of License (LOL)

This insurance provides a sum of 5 times your gross basic salary up to a maximum of $600,000 for the loss of your aircrew medical. Depending on the Aviation Medical Examiner decision this will be paid in either a lump sum for a permanent loss of your medical, or in monthly payments where rehabilitation may result in the return of your licence.

Levels of cover are the same as NZALPAs Mutual Benefit Fund.

There are two components to the LoL, namely the Basic Capital Benefit and the Top-up Benefit.

    • Basic Capital Benefit provides $547,216 of cover. Premium paid for entirely by the Company at a rate of $2 per $1000 of cover.
    • The Top-up Benefit allows you to increase your benefit to the maximum of 5 times your salary limited to a cap of $600,000. The premium for this is paid for by the member at a rate of $2 per $1,000 of cover for 2013/2014.

If the Total Benefit required is the cap of $600,000 then the premium for the $52,784 top-up is $52.78.

If your salary times 5 is under the $547,216 then there is no premium to pay.

    Professional Insurance Fund (PIF)

The PIF is set up to help fund Life and Income Continuance insurances.

The Company provides an initial sum per member to the fund that provides an initial level of cover. The member then has the ability to increase that cover as they wish.

FANZP currently uses Willis Insurance Brokers to arrange our Life and Income Continuance insurances. By working through a broker as a group we are able to facilitate levels of cover not ordinarily available to an individual.

    Life Insurance.

Basic Life cover of $200,000 is provided to the member to age 45 after which it reduces by $10,000 per annum. The member can increase this cover with Willis advising of any medical requirements and the premium costs involved. Currently this cover is provided through Sovereign Insurance.

    Income Continuance.

Income Continuance allows for 50% of your notional salary to be paid for a period of two years at not cost to the member. This can be increased by the member to a maximum of 75% capped at $240,000. This is currently an AXA/AMP policy.
